8 Tips to Naturally Boost Your Energy

by Health News

With all that life throws at us in the form of work, family and social pressures, a body can occasionally get a little tired. To help your body make it through a busy day, take a look at these 8 natural energy booster tips.

8 Tips to Naturally Boost Your Energy

  1. Reduce Stress. Chronic stress can zap mental and physical energy, but this can be countered by making relaxation a priority.  Many use exercise to relieve stress, while others find relief in quiet activities like reading or listening to music. Disciplined techniques like meditation or yoga not only reduce tension but can also enhance sleep.
  2. Get a Good Night’s Sleep. Most people need seven to eight hours of sleep to feel properly restored. Less than six hours of sleep per night on a regular basis builds up a “sleep debt” that can leave a person feeling mentally and physically drained. Make sure to limit activity to quiet time 30 minutes before bed, and sleep in a darkened room with the shades drawn.
  3. Eat Less, More Frequently.  Eating smaller, more frequent meals will help maintain blood sugar levels and provide the body with a steady dose of all-natural energy. Make sure to munch on foods that are high in fiber and low in sugar and saturated fat.
  4. Hydrate the Body with H2O.  It can be difficult to remember to drink enough water, but even slight dehydration can cause fatigue. Purchase a 16 ounce water bottle and fill it up four times throughout the day for a natural energy booster.
  5. Splash some Cool Water on your Face. Nothing feels better than a splash of cool water first thing in the morning. This is a trick you can use throughout the day. A run through a sprinkler, a dip in the swimming pool or a cold shower all have the same effect. Cool water stimulates the circulatory system and enhances metabolism.
  6. Work with your body’s clock. We experience natural rhythms of energy throughout the day. For many, the energy flows in mid-morning, ebbs in the afternoon, peaks again in early evening and diminishes just before bedtime. Pay attention to your body. Once you understand its natural energy rhythms, you can tailor activities around them.
  7. Take a Walk. It might seem that exercise is the last thing you should be doing if you are tired, but the opposite is true.  Experts say that an increase in physical activity, especially walking, actually enhances energy. So, get some fresh air and a change of scenery, and boost your energy with a brisk walk.
  8. Relieve a stuffy nose. A lingering cold and nasal congestion can be tiresome! Try a neti pot to clear sinuses and increase energy.

While a big cup of coffee can provide a temporary surge in energy, it might not be the best bet throughout the day. Take advantage of the  tips above to help regulate your body and naturally boost energy.
