Five Fabulous Oils to Remove Wrinkles

by Health News

On the path to looking younger, many women turn to their bathroom cabinet or bedside table. While anti-aging creams help diminish the appearance of aging, eating a diet full of skin-boosting nutrients offers the best way to remove wrinkles and look younger.  For the freshest skin, eat plenty of omega 3 fatty acids.  While oily fish offers an abundance of omega 3 fats in the forms of EPA and DHA, there are plant oils available for vegetarians that provide ALA, another source of healthy omega 3 fatty acids.

Use natural oils inside and out to remove wrinkles.

How Omega 3 Helps Remove Wrinkles and Boost Skin Health

According to dermatologist Howard Murad, the author of "Wrinkle-Free Forever," the membranes that make up cell walls rely on omega 3 fatty acids.  By helping to keep these membranes strong, skin cells retain moisture, making skin appear plump, smooth, and healthy.  Omega 3 fats also offer anti-inflammatory benefits that help protect the skin from damage due to UV rays.  Increasing consumption of omega 3 fats helps build healthy skin from the inside out.  Five fabulous oils offer a rich supply of omega 3 for skin and provide additional health benefits.

Flaxseed oil

With ALA making up 57 percent of the total fatty acids in flax, flaxseed oil offers the richest source of this healthy nutrient in the North American diet. In addition to plumping up skin, the anti-inflammatory properties of flaxseed oil help people with Crohn's disease and colitis by soothing inflamed intestinal lining.  Research also indicates that people who consume ALA are less likely to have a fatal heart attack.

Olive oil

Olive oil works inside and outside to soothe skin.  Internally, it helps maintain skin cell walls, and applied topically, it adds moisture to skin, making it soft and supple.  Research shows that monounsaturated fats found in olive oil keep LDL (bad) cholesterol in check and raise HDL (good) cholesterol, both of which can lower risks for heart disease.

Grapeseed oil

Research shows that taken internally, grapeseed helps reduce swelling following surgery and after athletic injuries.  The skin seems to derive the most benefit with topical application of grapeseed oil.  A few drops massaged into the skin moisturize without clogging pores and smooth fine lines and wrinkles by improving the skin's elasticity.

Coconut oil

Studies have found that topical application of coconut oil boosts moisture and lipid content in the skin cells of people with dry skin.  It has also shown to offer a protective effect from damaging UV rays.  Other benefits of coconut oil include possible improvement in brain function for patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease.

Sesame Seed Oil

While sesame seeds contain a small amount of omega 3 for skin, they offer a rich source of zinc. This mineral is essential to the production of collagen, a protein that gives skin its elasticity, and it helps repair damaged skin tissue.  Sesamol is another compound found in sesame seeds, which helps protect DNA from damage caused by radiation.
