It is an excellent source of Vitamin B-12. Vitamin B-12 is essential for healthy nerves and tissue. This is especially good news for vegetarians, because this vitamin is often lacking in vegetarian diets.

It is a rich source of GLA (gamma linoleic acids). GLA is a chemical found naturally in breast milk. It is believed to help the bodies of malnourished people absorb nutrients when they were previously unable to.
