Three Benefits of Green Tea for Those who Can’t Lose Weight

by Health News

It is frustrating when you feel like you can’t lose weight no matter what you do. Try adding new healthy habits to your day, like sipping a cup of green tea with lunch and dinner. This helps you adjust to the unusual flavor of green tea, and will help you shed those pounds faster.

Green tea can help shift those stubborn pounds even for those who can’t lose weight easily

Green Tea Helps Those Who Can’t Lose Weight

A UK study on green tea and weight loss at the Anglia Ruskin University showed that participants who exercised and took decaffeinated green tea extract reduced their body fat by 1.63% more than those who exercised and took a placebo. The study pointed out that dieters are required to consume 6-7 cups of green tea each day to get the benefits of increased performance, increased fat oxidation and weight loss.

To make it more palatable, the study substituted green tea drinks for capsules containing 571mg decaffeinated green tea extract. They contained the equivalent of 400mg EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate), the active compound in green tea that is thought to have many health benefits. It is this “secret ingredient” that appears to help those who can’t lose weight to shift those unwanted pounds more effectively.

Related Green Tea: A Promising Anti-Cancer Superfood

Studies suggest that taking a green tea capsule containing 50mg caffeine and 90mg EGCG before meals, coupled with regular exercise, can help individuals shed up to 2.5 pounds of fat per month, even for those who can’t lose weight with dieting alone.

Green Tea and Cancer

Green tea is picked and dried in steam in a speedy process to prevent the normal oxidation associated with drying the leaves to make black tea. This faster process preserves more of the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which contain high levels of antioxidants. Green tea has high levels of catechin polyphenols which have been shown to have anti-cancer properties in studies on mice with tumors. Studies also report positive results for green tea playing a role in preventing the onset or development of breast, ovarian, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon and esophageal cancers.

Green Tea and Heart Disease

Green tea has other health benefits, besides helping those who can’t lose weight. It appears to stop the absorption of cholesterol during digestion. A cup or two of green tea daily can lower cholesterol, reducing the risk of plaque build-up which leads to heart disease or stroke.

It makes good sense to add green tea or a green tea elixir to your daily regimen. For those who can’t lose weight naturally, it can produce encouraging results as well as boosting overall health.

Can Bitter Melon Counter Obesity-Associated Inflammation in the Brain?

by Cindy Gray

Bitter Melon May Counter Obesity-Associated Inflammation in the BrainAccording to a study from the University of Hawaii, bitter melon can counter inflammation in the brain caused by obesity, thereby lowering risk for brain-related diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and others.

The global epidemic of obesity is a major risk factor for many diseases, including those affecting the brain; and it is a major preventable cause of death worldwide. In 2013, the American Medical Association (AMA) officially classified obesity as a disease.

An increase in metabolism due to excess nutrition and obesity can lead to inflammation in the brain; although health experts are not exactly certain of how this happens.

In the present study, the researchers from Hawaii looked at the effects of regular consumption of bitter melon on the consequences of a high-fat diet on inflammation in laboratory mice.

Bitter melon, also known as bitter gourd, is a fruit that is used as food in many South Asian countries. It has long been used in the ancient Indian medical system of Ayurveda to treat a number of ailments, including type 2 diabetes. Bitter melon is also used in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to stimulate digestion, treat malaria, boost immune function and treat diabetes.

In the Hawaiian study, mice were fed a high-fat diet with and without bitter melon for 16 weeks. Their brains were then examined for so-called ‘markers’ of inflammation and stress.

Interestingly, study researchers found that the high-fat diet triggered the expression of inflammatory markers in the brains of these mice. However, expression of these markers returned to normal levels if the mice had been eating bitter melon as well.

Not only that, blood levels of antioxidants and pro-inflammatory compounds—which had increased in response to the special diet—also returned to normal with bitter melon consumption.

The study authors concluded that bitter melon is a potential therapy for obesity-associated inflammation in the brain and may lower risk for brain diseases.

Inflammation levels can be safely and effectively managed by adding bitter melon to your regime therapy.  There are nutritional supplements on the market today, such as elixirs, that may include all-natural, healthful nutrients, such as green tea extract, hibiscus, rose hips, pomegranate and of course bitter melon.  This type of supplement may provide your body with powerful protection against inflammation, for optimal brain and overall health.

Nutritional supplements like these are very easy to add to your daily routine to protect yourself against the toxic effects of inflammation.   Given the powerful health benefits of bitter melon and similar ingredients why not investigate a supplement like this today?

Natural Weight Loss Supplements

by Health News

Many of us struggle to maintain a healthy body weight, and for some, limiting calories and increasing exercise makes dieting a very long and slow process. Any help to speed up weight loss is gratefully received and, knowing this, the market is swamped with diet pills and "magic" weight loss aids offering unbelievable overnight success.

The hard truth is that most of these products are expensive and work on amphetamines, diuretics or laxatives. At worst they are dangerous or illegal and at best the weight loss is temporary as it is simply water, not fat, that is shed.

If you are looking for a safe all-natural supplement to accompany a sensible low fat diet, then there are some excellent herbs from Mother Nature herself to aid your efforts to lose weight.

Guggul is made from a resin sourced from a thorny Indian plant. It promotes a healthy thyroid, which in turn controls the body's metabolism. A sluggish thyroid can be a big hindrance for those on a diet so taking guggul makes sure the food you eat is turned into energy, not stored up as fat. Guggul also lowers cholesterol and triglycerides as well as lowering your weight!

Psyllium Husks

Diets can cause constipation so taking psyllium husks which are dense in natural fiber makes good sense. Psyllium not only cleanses the colon and removes toxins, it also keeps food moving and ensures regularity. Add whole psyllium husks to at least 8 fluid ounces water, sugar-free juice, fat-free milk or soy drink. If taken before meals it swells in the stomach to make you feel full so you can choose smaller portions. You can also add it to soup for a satisfying low-calorie snack when you crave food.

Green Tea

Green tea is a great drink for dieters. Sip up throughout the day for a calorie-free intake of antioxidants and nutrients. Green tea is great for regulating the metabolism, like guggul, and it stimulates fat-burning. It is a great de-toxifier for your digestive system and the polyphenols induce weight loss and promote health. A great way to take it is by adding droplets of Green Tea Elixir, a concentrated source of green tea extract, to your favourite soda or hot drink to get all the benefits of green tea.

Garcinia Camboja

You may never have heard of garcinia camboja but it is an ingredient used in many slimming supplements. It is better known as HCA which stands for hydroxycitric acid garcinia cambogia, an ingredient which is derived from this Asian fruit. It is said to help suppress the appetite and enhance serotonin levels boosting feelings of happiness and well-being.

If you can't diet alone, get these four "friends" to help and support you. With daily exercise and a sensible healthy diet you will soon be well on your way to diet success!
